1st Semi-Final of ICC World Cup 2019: India Vs. New Zealand
The 26th match of the ICC World Cups was played between India and New Zealand at Old Trafford on the 9th and 10th of July as rain affected the game. New Zealand decided to bat first as they won the toss.
New Zealand scored 239 runs in 50 overs with 8 wickets down. Ross Taylor became the top scorer as he made 79 runs off 90 balls with 3- fours and 1- six. Kane Williamson made 67 runs off 95 balls with 6- fours; Henry Nicholls made 28 runs off 51 balls with 2- fours, Colin de Grandhomme made 16 runs off 10 balls with 2- fours and James Neesham made 12 runs off 18 balls with 1- four.
Bhuvaneshwor Kumar was able to pick 3 Zew Zelands’swickets whereas Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Yuzvendra Cahal each took 1 wicket.
India could not reach their target as they could only score 221 runs in 49.3 overs. Ravindra Jadeja became the top scorer as he made 77 runs off 59 balls with 4- fours and 4- sixes. The strike rate was 130.50. MS Dhoni made 50 runs off 72 balls with 1- six and 1- four, Rishab Pant made 32 runs off 56 balls with 4 –fours and Hardik Pandya made 32 runs off 54 balls with 2- fours.
Matt Henry picked up 3 wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs with 1 maiden over included, Mitchell Santhner picked up 2 wickets in 34 overs with 2 maiden overs included, Trent Boult picked up 2 wickets for 42 runs in 10 overs with 2 maiden overs included, Lockie Ferguson picked up 1 wicket and James Neesham picked 1 wicket.
With this, New Zealand succeeded to enter World Cup Finals for the second time.
Matt Henry became the Player of the match for picking up 3- wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs.
